In the old days, infertile women were tortured from seeing pregnant women on the street. Now, you get to be tortured through technology as well.

Out of your 600 “friends” on Facebook, at least half are pregnant while your other pals post pictures of their babies developmental stages. It starts with the 3 month belly pictures where friends comment their congratulations, and their profile picture turns into an ultrasound photo. Each month new pictures surface of the belly, and you wish you didn’t turn on your computer. Their status updates start saying how ’sick they feel’ or ‘they can’t wait to give birth already.’ You refuse to comment on their updates but you can’t help but look at their photos.

Thankfully, no one can see your jealousy through the computer screen.

Then, you realize that 40 weeks is soon approaching, and you find out your Facebook BFF just gave birth. Not from a personal phone call but through a status update: “Baby Sally was born yesterday.” Now the photos of the baby start appearing daily.

Monday’s photo album: Sally’s first poopie diaper
Tuesday: Sally’s first burpie
Wednesday: Sally picks her nose
Thursday: Sally gets a heat rash
Friday: Sally barfs pureed squash.

Then, another Facebooker announces a pregnancy and the cycle starts again. You know what, “friend that I met one time 10 years ago,” your baby is not that cute.

LOL! I couldn't agree more about FB. Even though I am preggo, I still get all worked up when people announce theirs on FB, because I will ALWAYS be infertile and still hardly believe I will get to have my boys come home.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

I LOVE YOUR BLOG!! It's fabulous!! Please keep up the good work. It's nice when you're feeling down to have somewhere to go to laugh about IF. I want to slap those preggos on FB that do that, oh wait I did that crap on FB, well lesson learned. While some people care about pregnancy when you post it on FB, m/c is not a well received FB post. Thanks for helping us IFers laugh during this difficult time.
    Kari

Amen, sisters! What she said! Keep the laughter coming!

Love it!! Facebook totally has that all the time. I found out about my friends pregnancies and births throw technology. Wonderful, huh? I'm definitely following this blog! :)

  5. Mrs Emilee says:

I meant through technology, btw… haha

Ha! This is exactly why I have not joined facebook!! Do you really know those people?! Ha! This post was great!

  12. Low Fat Lady says:

This is so true. I could have written this myself. Great job!

  13. Lily says:

I brought this up at our last fertility support group meeting. I thought it was just me! Thanks for making me laugh with each post. Keep up the great work.

  14. Jessica says:

I can't stop reading your blog – so true about FB. Cracking me up – and making me like I'm not the only one! I'm mom, but a long-time TTCer with one m/c (I know others have been through so much worse) and my heart understands. I wish that everyone struggling – my BF included, who is 4 DPIUI right now, has their dreams come true soon!! I wish I could say having a child satisfies some of these feelings, but for me, they're still here…anyway, thanks.

So what's worse than stalking "friends" on Facebook to find out if they are pregnant? Entering a past boyfiend's name into the Babies R Us registry finder to see if he and his wife are expecting.

    Me = Guilty.

They are having a girl. Awesome.

  16. Kacy says:

    True dat!

  17. Anonymous says:

The worst is when they are getting close to delivery/labor and they start to announce how dilated they are as status updates. UGh! gross, I don't want to know how open ANYONE'S cervix is, not even my own!

  18. InfertileNaomi says:

    A good infertile status update:

    "Just checking my vaginal fluid"

  19. Anonymous says:

I hate when formerly childless FB friends suddenly (and I'm sure easily) get pregnant, have a baby, and then their status updates are ONLY about the baby. "Susie has the sniffles today" or "Susie finally pooped in the toilet". Enough already!

  20. Laura says:

This is SO true! I think that I find out about more babies on FB than in real life. Thanks again for the laughs :-)

  21. Mary-Anne says:

Oh my gosh…this is SO true!! I am so sick of hearing about my "friends" who are pregnant through facebook or blogs! I have seriously contemplated canceling both my blog AND my facebook account because I can't handle it anymore!!! But of course I won't…anyway, I seriously love your blog. I am SO SO glad there are other people out there going through what I am!!

  22. Anonymous says:

    Ha ha too true!!

I love the 'hide' button for those friends whose lives now revolve around nappies and breastfeeding… BORING!!! (we won't admit that it actually makes us depressed)

Thank you for the much needed laughs!

  23. HometownGirl. says:

oh my gosh… so true… i add people from high school and they are all having 3-4 kids.. i'm like… WHAT?!?!?!? sooooo annoying… i use the 'hide' button for this crap..

  24. Joanne says:

So funny!! the photo just adds a cute little exclamation point at the end. I may need to tweet this…Keep up the great work – your blog is hysterical!

  25. Joanne says:

By the way, I just made a reference to your blog on our Facebook page: http://bit.ly/16ctoP

  26. SoCaliMommy says:

I agree it gets bad, i almost deleted a cousin off my fb page because she announced she was pg easily with twins and already had a 2yr old son who i'm sure she got pg with on the first try. But it's like a trainwreck you know you shouldn't look but can't help it lol.

I've been dealing with Secondary Infertility for a little over 2yrs.

I also had the fun of dealing with it when trying to get pregnant with kid#2 including 2back to back miscarriages got pg at a month before the 1yr mark.

  27. Travis and Julie says:

On the car ride home from church I was reading the updates on FB to my husband and somebody wrote a message saying "dear farmville friends, please don't send me anymore of those pease themed things. I very much want maple trees. thank you." Then i was like thats just sad. So then i read the next update. Well it was someones ultrasound picture. Then my husband said "dear preganant women please stop sending me your ultra sound pictures. I would very much like your baby. Thank you." Funniest thing ever!

  28. cheryl says:

When we were trying I would either defriend or hide any pregnant women on my friend's list. It made me feel better.
Now that we are expecting I purposely make posts and pics about my pregnancy but I figure we deserve it after going through a few ivf cycles, m/c and stillbirth. Plus I don't have any infertile friends on FB, so I am giving all those fertiles a piece of their own medicine.

  29. Nadine says:

One time, I found out in one week that four of my friends were pregnant or had expectant partners. It was a bad week.

  30. Anna says:

I just wanted to say that I found the baby in the picture incredibly adorable!

  31. Sinan Ozyol Poops Himself says:

Ah, the joy of the “hide” button. Or better yet, just don’t look at Facebook anymore.

  32. Miserylovescompany says:

Thank God I’m not the only one that wants to cancel her fb every day bc of preggo fb friends. I find my self screaming “shut up already!” in my head but damn if I don’t return 30 mins later. It’s a viscous, viscous cycle.
