No, the double pregnancy news does not mean ‘twins,’ it means hearing the same pregnancy news twice.
Your friend has gleefully told you she was expecting. You cheered too but inside your heart was aching and you had no idea how you were going to finish your sandwich without choking on your own sorrow. But you quickly realize that you will soon be hearing the same news at least three times more. To your horror, you are meeting with your newly pregnant friend for dinner with a bunch of other girls in a few days. But none of these other women know yet. You realize that you will have to hear the news all over again.
Is it easier to hear the same pregnancy news a second time?
In this case, you can at least mentally prepare yourself or at least pre-drink before the outing. But in the end, it won’t matter. You can prepare yourself all you want but if Aunt Flow arrives that day, no amount of mental preparation will help.
Here are some ways to cope for the double pregnancy news:
1) You can ruin it for her. As soon as your friends arrive, shout out her news before she gets the chance.
2) Upstage her. Do a drastic change to your hair or make-up and wear a revealing cocktail dress, even to a casual restaurant.
3) Bring up inappropriate conversation. Chat about the high statistics for miscarriages or a funeral that you recently attended.
4) Agree with her when she says she’s fat.
4) Cancel the dinner. You cannot attend because you will be traveling to an exotic destination (then don’t pick up your phone for two weeks so your friends will think you’re out of town).
Those seem like pretty healthy ways to cope.
Or before she busts out her news you can show up with a pee stick with only one glaring pink line on it and exclaim: "Guess what ladies? I'm NOT pregnant. AGAIN! YAY!" And the awkward silence that ensues will totally kill the moment for her.
And as someone who has endured the double and the triple pregnancy news multiple times recently. Uggghhhhh. You're right. It never gets any easier.
how about knowing they were pregnant already (you have been an infertile for a while, and now can detect real live pregnancies in other women, before they can) and then them making up a story about how they havent tested yet, and they dont know. then they tell you via email…and then three more people you know end up telling you they were pregnant within a few hours…
all you can say…is "hopefully i am not far behind you this time" (cause heaven knows that is what you said the last time that woman got pregnant, and now she is pregs agian…and news flash- YOUR NOT!

You can also spread a rumor that she doesn't know who the father is.
Wow. I have issues when just one person tells me. I couldn't imagine two people on the same day. LOL I like your list though, very creative.
Aunt Flow + pregnancy news = a good excuse to get drunk
Thanks for the laughs. I have had a hard year with one family member breaking the news at a family gathering on Easter. Happy Easter! Anyways…..I really enjoy your blog and this post especially made me laugh.
Thank you! I so needed that! I've been in slump for 2 days now b/c of just that…
Hi everyone! YOu had me laughing at this one! I just found out that my cousin is expecting. (Me, I've had m/c's). I know I'm going to get to hear the "good news" over and over again. I have to go out to dinner with my parents and grandmother this weekend (this will be my grandma's 2nd great grandchild). Though my cousin won't be there, since word has spread through the grapevine about her baby, this of course will be all they will talk about. Meanwhile, I with my m/c's, hair growth, and irregular cycles since I was 12, I will just have to sit there, smiling as ever. I'm thinking of backing out of the dinner with the exotic vacation story, or going to dinner in a leopard camisole and sultry eye makeup
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You may be my only saving grace at a time like this. As I certain that as I sit here and type away I am misscarring, for the second time in the last six months. And here I thought that once I actually GOT pregnant my struggles would be over. Little did I know. So thank you again for allowing me to laugh through my tears.
I am so glad I found your blog (by way of another blog). I am reading here at work (not like I have anything else to do) and am loving your posts. I keep sending them to another infertile friend saying "here's another one you just have to read." Thanks for making my day and my infertile journey a lot more bearable.

Try putting on a fake smile when your Aunt, who already has four kids, youngest being 9 yrs old, announces her oops pregnancy. (Btw, this is the third aunt who got pregnant AFTER I got married. Two years ago. What the fertile?!)
P.S. Thank you so much for your blog! I found it a couple of days back and have been going through your archive whenever I’m free. It makes me feel a little better, knowing I have a place where I can truly vent my frustrations and not be judged for them. Thanks!
