When you first moved into your new home, you imagined having a baby’s room.
You know which room this is. It’s the middle room just beside your bedroom so you could check on your baby frequently. You would walk past this room several times a day, and picture a crib and a rocking chair. You would stand in the doorway and imagine yourself rocking your baby to sleep and seeing that room filled with baby clothes and toys. You even painted the room a baby friendly color (without mentioning this intent to your husband).
But this room is now your office.
Instead of plush animals and baby dresses, this room now has a desk, an old chair, a computer and a scatter of pens and papers. Your cute picture frames have been replaced by your College Diploma and pictures of your grandparents. The image of the sweet crib has been replaced by a mountain of paperwork and you now have pictures of other people’s children on your desk.
Perhaps one day this will be your baby’s room but for now, it’s the room where you spend hours looking at infertility websites and nursing back a martini.
WOW! That is my room…but we have turned ours into a workout room…I figure if I don't have the joy of being huge and pregnant, I might as well try to look like the models I have hung in the room to inspire me!
That is totally me! It was empty for a while, but is now full with a bookshelf, desk, and a day bed. Still unpainted, but very much an office. *sigh*.
We are about to paint ours (my husband knows the full reason for the color choice), but it is my sewing room.
sometimes i read your posts and i wonder if you stalk me.lol. I like botique designs so i was elated with the earth tones of this room. I got tired of it looking like an office so i took out the desk put in a couch table which is now my desk and the rest of the room is filled the all the good deals on baby gear i have aquired during this time. I HAVE been pregnant several times leading to m/c so i cant be considered a weirdo lady…i explain to the hubbs that i am preparing for my successful pregnancy and that storing these items for this good of a deal will save us money in the long run…plus to me, it gives me hope that it WILL HAPPEN FOR ME SOON!! …theres an idea for a blog…women who buy baby things and store them, simply to look at them for hope that it is going to happen for them…i guess i relate to it in the way that women trying to lose weight will hang up pics of skinney women to give a physical example that their goal is attainable, why should it be different for infertiles?

It's amazing that you know so much about me and we've never met. I'm glad I'm not the only infertile who thinks and acts crazy sometimes. Ok maybe more than sometimes.
you hit the nail on the head with that one… I've been in a constant stat of office purge/revamp not wanting to finish and set it up just the way I want to… cause you know… we're going to get pregnant! LOL

Shit! This is so true! We have a 2-bedroom apartment instead of a house; and we have a bedroom that we sleep in… and the other bedroom, though painted with baby cornflower yellow and pale green stripes… has slowly acquired new furniture, a printer, a fax machine, a filing cabinet….

I am totally there right now…we are starting the process of having a house built with a 4th bedroom, right next to the master, the perfect nursery size. I have plans to make it an exercise room and a spare bedroom. I can't stand the thought of it being empty right now.
Ours is a huge walk in closet right now.

When I first read this, I was like "oh crap! I'm being watched!"….When we first moved into the apartment we are in now, I wanted specifically to move into an apartment with a 2nd bedroom right next to ours. It's now our library, but we have a chest in there that we store our baby stuff.
we've been in our new/first house a little over a year (a couple months less than since we started ttc). It started as an office but I was so upset in there (always get distracted from work and thinking about how it should be a baby room) that we made it into a guest bedroom….it came in handy when my mom stayed with me after my endometriosis surgery…ah the infertile life.
Now I only go in there to vacuum every other week…
I can top that. We have a bedroom that is empty except for a cabinet we plan to convert into a change table. Just a big empty room with no crib, no rocking chair, and no paint. I mean, we can't really justify getting those things until we're expecting, right? Sometimes I wonder if we should just put the futon in there and get it overwith, because naturally as soon as we make it into a guest room, I'll get pregnant, right? Right?
Lol, mine was turned into the video game room. Action figures included. I had imagined a pink/brown or green/brown decor but instead I have painted a gray/black brick wall, with a do not enter sign rug on the floor. My dh has had great plans for shelving units to store comics with their matching figures and a big screen tv to play his xbox 360 and ps3 on. But someday I’ll take it back over, just planning right now. And after 7 years of dreaming you bet your superman figure it I’m going all out.
